Redeemed

Blessed is the Lord God of Israel, for He has visited and redeemed His people.

Luke 1:68

When we think of Christmas, we often think of the "baby Jesus, meek and mild" lying in a manger. But the song of Zechariah in Luke 1:68 reminds us that the birth of Jesus was not just a beautiful event—it was a rescue mission.
To understand the beauty of the light, we must first acknowledge the gravity of the darkness. The Bible is clear that the consequence of our sin is death (Romans 6:23). It is a debt we could never pay on our own, a barrier that separated us from a holy God. We were captives to our own brokenness, lost in a darkness that no candle or Christmas light could pierce.
Jesus was born for one specific purpose: to be the currency of our freedom. He came to become payment for our sins. He took on human flesh, so that He could eventually become the sacrifice. The word redeemed means bought with a great price.
Christmas is God's heavy payment, paid to buy us back from the kingdom of darkness and bring us into His marvelous light. Our freedom was expensive, and it was paid for in love.
Reflection:
This Christmas, and all Christmas and every day of your life remember this, you are no more in darkness, sorrow, pain, defeat, struggle, sickness no more has right on you. You are bought with a heavy price — our Lord Jesus Christ birth, death, shedding of blood and resurrection.
Claim your place that you are free by Jesus blood and this truth will set you free.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, Thank you for your amazing love that came and saved a wretch like me. I was so lost and in sin, but you came and found me and redeemed and rescued me. I owe my life to you. Help me to be your witness and light that shines for you. Amen.
