Thanks be to God
Oh, give thanks to the Lord! Call upon His name; Make known His deeds among the peoples!
1 Chronicles 16:8
Giving thanks to the LORD has been carried out from the beginning of time. Abel offered a sacrifice of thanksgiving to the LORD, and the LORD blessed Him. Abraham offered thanksgiving to the LORD and was blessed. Israelites offered thanksgiving to the LORD and was blessed.
All of them gave thanks to the LORD because of His goodness, because of the victory that He gives in every area of our life, because He takes care of us, because He provides for us, because He feeds us, clothes us and loves us.
Giving thanks acknowledges who God is, His nature, His ability, His power, His Splendor.
By giving thanks we acknowledge publicly that all the blessings we received are from Him and not by our own effort.
Giving thanks humbles us to say that God did it and hence I thank Him.
Giving thanks speaks the truth and tells the world that there is a God who wants to do good and proves that He does it.
Giving thanks is a way of sharing the gospel.
As you celebrate Thanksgiving this week, take a moment to give thanks and share all the goodness that God has done in your life before the Gentiles, before those who do not know Him.
