The price of delay

The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise, as some count slowness.

2 Peter 3:9

We all love promises in the bible. Sometimes we receive a word from the Lord, a promise during our lowest moment. We get encouraged, we get excited and think the promise is going to be fulfilled immediately, if not very soon. But to our disappointment, many times the promises that God gives, takes years and sometimes decades. We either forget that God made such promise or consider the promise as a false and not for us.
The bible says that all God's promises are yes and amen. So why the delay, why can't God's promises happen immediately.
One thing we need to understand about the God whom we worship. He sees the end from the beginning, and He also loves all people. In the latter part of today's verse, we read that God does not want anyone to perish.
Hence, when God gives you a promise, that promise not only blesses you, but through you that promise blesses others.
God promised Joseph through a dream that all his household, including his father and mother will, bow to him and that he will be lifted. Joseph had to wait 13 years for God's promise to be fulfilled. Why the wait, because if only God had fulfilled the promise immediately, only Joseph and his family would have been blessed, but God knew there is a famine coming 20 years later, and He prepared Joseph for it well before and wanted him not only a blessing to his family but to the entire world. We learn from Joseph story that many nations around Egypt were saved through Joseph.
The price for the delay is always greater. The greater the promise, the greater the delay and greater the outcome.
Today are you waiting for a long time for God's promises to be fulfilled, do not be discouraged, God has great plans for you and surely the price for the delay is going to be greater.
