Flourishing Olive Tree
I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God
Psalms 52:8
The olive was one of the most valuable trees to the ancient Hebrews. It is first mentioned in Scripture when the dove returned to Noah’s ark carrying an olive branch in its beak (Gen.8:11). There is an ancient tradition that the “tree of life” in the Garden of Eden was an olive tree. Olive Oil was regarded as a symbol of honor, joy, gladness and favor.
Psalmist here describes himself as an olive tree in the house of God. That is when we are in the house of God, we flourish, we have honor, joy, gladness and favor from God.
When we believe in the LORD Jesus Christ, we have been adopted as sons and daughters into the house of God. We are also like the Olive tree in the house of God.
We should always remember in all circumstances that we are also like this Olive tree, always in God's house, which means we are bound to flourish, be filled with honor, joy, gladness and favor.
No matter how the day is for you, no matter what others think about you, you are an olive tree flourishing in the house of God.
When you have truly given your heart to Christ, you flourish every day spiritually, because God waters your spiritual life and when you flourish spiritually, you also flourish physicallly.
When your soul prospers, you also prosper in everything else.
So today allow God to water your spiritual life, every day spend time alone with God, reading His word and seeking Him. When you do this, you will flourish in all things and be filled with joy and gladness.
