The Kingdom in You
The kingdom of God is not coming with signs to be observed; nor will they say, Look, here it is! or, There it is! For behold, the kingdom of God is in your midst.
Luke 17:20-21
Many Jews in Jesus day were convinced that when the Messiah came, Israel would be freed from Roman rule, becoming a sovereign nation again, as in David’s time. This liberation would be the height of God’s blessings, they thought.
Filled with this expectation, the Pharisees asked Jesus for His perspective on the coming kingdom. However, He wanted them to realize that their understanding was faulty. God had something far better in mind.
The Pharisees viewed things from a human perspective, they didn't realize the wonders of God's Kingdom already in their midst. In fact, it was within them.
This was a radical statement. Jesus was trying to teach them that God’s Kingdom was not confined to the physical world. It was a spiritual kingdom that could exist anywhere. A kingdom open to anyone. A kingdom limitless in scope, where anything was possible, any time.
Today, that Kingdom still is among us. We dwell in that Kingdom and Jesus is our King. No matter where we live, what we do, and who rules the nations of this world, we dwell in God’s Kingdom.
What this means to us, this means that we live in the economy of God's Kingdom and not the world's, we live in the power of God's kingdom and not the world, we live under the prosperous reign of King Jesus and all that is in His Kingdom belongs to us.
So today don't look at the world and the mess it is in, realize every time that the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. Ask the King and our Lord Jesus, and He will surely meet all your needs according to His riches and glory.
