The Anchor

Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God who made heaven and earth

Psalm 146:5-6

The anchor is the most important part of the ship. It holds the ship firm in the Ocean even when there is a storm. The purpose of an anchor is to keep a ship safe and secure at the desired location or to help control the ship during bad weather. However, to accomplish these vital purposes, just having an anchor is not enough. The anchor must be solid, dependable, and used properly at the right time and place.
When a storm hits the ship, the anchor holds it from being dragged away by the storm, the anchor has a firm hold of the ship and make sure the ship does not drift away or lost in the ocean.
Today we put our hope on many things. We put our hope on the Job, on our friends, on our family and relatives, even on our own skills, but a real and trustworthy anchor is the one which holds us from drifting away or from drowning. The real anchor is the one which can stand the test, which can stand the strongest storms of life. Putting our hope on family and friends are good, but during those toughest moments and storms they may not be in a position to help you or save you. The one and only anchor who can save us and rescue us in the toughest storms of life is our Lord Jesus Christ. There is no storm greater than Him and no wind powerful than Him. He has the power to control the storm and the winds in our life by His word.
Whose help do you seek when you hit the storms of life? On whom do you put your hope every day for your needs to be met, for your healing, for your deliverance.  The psalmist wrote "Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God".
Instead of trusting in chariots and horses, trust in the name of the LORD your God, put your hope in Him. Whatever may be your situation today, there is nothing that can stop your LORD from rescuing you, blessing you and bringing you to the shore safely.  Cast your hope on the LORD Jesus Christ in all that you do and He will sustain you and will not allow your foot to slip, instead make you firm in all your ways.
