The First Commandment
Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man, the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.
1 Corinthians 2:9
1 Corinthians 2:9
The most important part of Christian life is to love our Lord Jesus with all of our heart. In Mathew 22 a man approached Jesus and asked Him what is the greatest commandment. Jesus replied and said, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. Loving God is paramont to Christian life.
In the days of the circuit riders a minister was out riding one afternoon and came upon a man out working in his field. “Fine day isn’t it?” the minister called out. “It's fine for you”, the man replied, “All you have to do is ride around on that horse thinking about God all day long, while I have to sweat here in this field and then walk home afterward. I don’t think it is right you should have things so easy while I have to work so hard.” “On the contrary”, the minister answered, “thinking about God is one of the most difficult things you can do. And to prove it, I’ll give you this horse if you can think about God and nothing else for one minute.” “You’re on,” said the man and immediately he sat down in silence. Thirty seconds later he looked up at the minister, and said, “Does that include the saddle?”
How many times in a day we think about our Lord Jesus Christ and say to Him we love Him. Like this farmer it becomes hard for us to think about God in the midst of our busy life and many struggles that entangles us. But Apostle Paul teaches us that loving God opens up a pandora of blessings that we have not heard, seen and thought about it.
Loving the Lord with all of our heart, surpasses all other commandments and directly takes us to the bossom of our Father in heaven. He prepares for us great blessings and showers upon great joy and happiness. We don’t have to sweat for the blessing, but instead just love Him with all of our heart which clears every struggle and pain in our life and enables us to experience His blessings every day, yes everyday. Love the Lord with all your heart, with all your soul and all your mind today and everyday.
