The Petition
May the LORD fulfill all your petition.
Psalm 20:5
The word petition means to make a formal signed written request, appealing to a higher authority with respect to a particular case. We all make various forms of petitions in our lives when we apply for school or college admission or when we apply for a visa or for a job. Sometimes our petition or request is granted, and sometimes it is not.
Like the earthly petition, we also make a petition to heaven. When we pray we make a formal signed written petition with all of our requests in it.
Similar to earthly petition, heavenly petition is also granted sometimes and not granted other times.
The reason is when you grant the petition to God the Father, He sees your faith in that petition rather than the needs. The petition we submit to heaven is granted based on how strongly we believe that we will receive what we ask.
Mark's gospel 11:24 says whatever you ask when you pray believe that you receive them and you will have them.
Today when you submit a petition through prayer believe you have already received it and you will surely have them. After all, our God is not just prayer listening to God , but a prayer answering God as well.
