Submit and Rest
Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
James 4:7
Submission and resistance are two factors for victorious Christian living. As followers of Christ, we face constant battle and undergo struggle.
That is because when we accept the LORD Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, we transition from the kingdom of darkness to the kingdom of light and become a key target for the devil.
Hence through various means the devil and His kingdom attack us, sometimes physically through sickness, sometimes mentally through fear, worry, anxiety, depression, and much more.
We can overcome every such attack by doing two important things constantly. They are submitting to God and Resisting the devil.
Submitting to God means obeying Him, obeying His commandments, and doing what He has said in the Bible. For example, He commanded us to love Him and love one another and when we do so we submit to Him.
Secondly, resist the devil. It does not mean to physically fight Him, but to resist His schemes. That is to stop worrying, fearing, walking in the flesh, stop carrying hatred or bitterness, and stopping to be like the world.
When you do these two things all through your life, you will be able to overcome every struggle, disappointment, and failure and live a victorious Christian life.
