Good Fruit
Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit.
John 15:2
This is an important verse for every believer in Christ Jesus. This verse tells our condition of salvation and it also tells us if we are ready to meet our LORD and Savior Jesus Christ.
This verse clearly tells if we will inherit eternal life.
Many times we assume we will inherit eternal life, many times we take it as granted because we are Christians, born in Christian homes or have accepted Jesus as LORD and Savior and hence live a busy life working towards our own goals and priorities, making sure we go to Church on Sunday's regularly, give offering regularly and think our duty towards our LORD is performed. This cycle repeats Sunday after Sunday and without even we realizing we become part of this world, doing the things of this world.
So this verse today is a reminder for us to see if we are truly saved, will we inherit eternal life.
our LORD Jesus himself said in this verse that only those who bear fruit will remain in Him.
In Matthew 7:19 He said, every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into fire.
So what is a good fruit? In Galatians 5:22-23, Apostle Paul list those good fruits, which are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
As followers of Christ we are expected to demonstrate these characters in our every day life, among those around us, within own family, and in the church.
Lets keep an eye on this fruit giving and remain in Him and not lose the precious salvation that was freely given to us.
