Trust in the LORD and do good
Trust in the Lord and do good. Then you will live safely in the land and prosper. Take delight in the Lord,
and he will give you your heart’s desires.
Psalms 37:3-4
There are three things that the LORD requires of us in order for us to live a secure and prosperous life. They are to trust in the LORD and do good and then to take delight in Him, and when we do this consistently with all of our heart, He will give you your heart’s desires.
The first instruction is the key, which is to trust in the LORD. What does it really mean?
It means to Trust in His goodness, mercy, grace, and love. He is a good God who wants to bless you and give you your heart desires. Many times we look at the circumstances around us and immediately come to the conclusion that God is punishing us, He is not happy with us, I have done something wrong, and so on.
In fact, if God wants to punish you, why did He punish His Son on the cross? Lord Jesus Christ took our punishment in our place so we will have peace with God.
He is not angry with you nor wants to punish you. He wants to bless you.
So trust in His goodness, and wait on Him.
Secondly, while you wait, do good. May the light that God put in you when you accepted the LORD Jesus Christ burn brightly. May others see your good deeds both within your own family and outside.
Lastly, live every moment of your life loving your LORD Jesus Christ and rejoice in Him, that is with desire go to Him and talk to Him and read His word, not grudgingly but out of longing.
When you do this every day, God gives you the desire of your heart.
