Bethel
Arise and go up to Bethel and I will make an altar there to God, who answered me in the day of my distress.
Genesis 35:3
Bethel in hebrew means house of God, it is where God is. Jacob named this place Bethel because He met God at this place when He ran from Esau his brother. It is the place where Jacob dreamed of a ladder on which angels went up and down and the LORD stood above it and said "I am the LORD GOD of Abraham your father and God of Isaac".
Bethel is the place where Jacob met God when he was in distress and running for his life.
Like Jacob we too sometimes are in distress and dismayed not knowing what to do.
We don't know where we are going and how the future is going to be
It is at this hopeless moment that God meets us and shows us the way and gives us the promise that He will take care of us and bless us.
So are you in distress and alone like Jacob? arise and go to Bethel. Go to the house of God.
Go to Him and seek Him for He has chosen you and cares for you.
What He promises in your life will surely come to pass, like it did for Jacob.
You are not alone, God of Jacob is with you and He is your refuge.
