Behold
Behold, I am coming quickly and My reward is with Me to give to every one according to his work.
Revelation 22:12
The word behold means to watch out, be on alert, be on the lookout, and be with an expectant heart. The Bible finishes with these words of our LORD Jesus Christ and warns every believer to live a life watching carefully and expecting the LORD's return. Not only to watch and expect but also to remember about the works for which you are rewarded.
What is the work this verse talks about?
It is the fruit we give in our everyday life, it is the life of testimony we live every day, it is the sacrifices we make for Christ our LORD, it is the love we have for our LORD, it is the life of faith we live, it is the life we live according to every Word of the LORD, being doers of the Word of God.
Many times we don't think about our actions and what we do. We easily get distracted and tempted by all the pleasures of this world and yield to it most of the time, thinking it alone brings satisfaction and happiness.
Whereas it is the opposite, whatever pleasure we may enjoy it vanishes the next moment and then life becomes void. But whatever you do for the LORD Jesus Christ is recorded in the heavens book of life and it satisfies and blesses you not only in this life but in life eternal.
Jesus Himself said in Matthew 6:19-21, do not store up treasure on earth where insects and thieves destroy but rather store up treasures in heaven where insects or thieves won't destroy.
The coming of the LORD Jesus Christ is at the doorstep, BEHOLD, and do the works for HIM to glorify HIS name.
