Ebenezer
Ebenezer.. Thus far the LORD has helped us.
1 Samuel 7:12
Prophet Samuel names God almighty as Ebenezer which means God who helps. Everytime Prophet Samuel cried out to the Lord, he got the help from Him even when the situation was worse.
Before this verse we see that philistines threatened to attack Israel, while Israel sinned against the LORD. But Prophet Samuel offers a sacrifice and cries to the LORD for help.
Philistine army was much bigger and powerful than the Israel army. The people of Israel were sure of a defeat in the hands of the philistines.
Inspite of the sins of Israel, the LORD showed mercy upon them, when prophet Samule cried to the LORD for help.
LORD Jesus Christ is the same yesterday today and forever. We may have been like the people of Israel, doing things which may have not pleased the LORD, but He is merciful, every time you cry out for help, He comes to your rescue. He does not hesitate nor deny. He does not see how perfect and holy you are.
That is the nature of our God.
So today you can go to Him in full freedom, like a child goes to their father or mother and ask LORD Jesus.
He never sends anybody empty hand but grants the request.
He is Ebenezer.
