And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures.

Scriptures are the very words of God which is alive and active and has answers to all life's needs and solutions to all life's problems. But we need understanding to find those answers and solutions. Disciples were walking with the word of God everyday and every night but couldn't understand some of the things He said,
until Jesus himself opened their understanding. It is important that our understanding is opened so we can know what the word says
and follow it to receive the blessings and solutions.
That is why in Ephesians 1:17, apostle Paul prayers to God to open the eyes of understanding, so that we may know the riches of inheritance that God has for us.
