Watch and Pray
Take heed, watch and pray for you do not know when the time is.
Mark 13:32
Before our LORD Jesus was arrested in the garden of Gethsemane, He gave very important instructions to all of His followers who believe on Him and are saved. One of such instruction was to Watch and Pray.
Why did Jesus mentions these two things, why not just pray or just watch and also what to watch for and pray for? These may be the questions one might have when they hear these instructions of Jesus.
In order to understand what Jesus meant by Watch and Pray, we have to look at the background of His message in Mark chapter 13.
In this chapter, Jesus was talking about the end times and how it will be before He comes back to rule on this earth again.
Jesus said that in those days, talking about the end times, nations will raise against nations, you will see wars happening and rumors of wars, the world will hate the true followers of Christ, love will grow cold, brother will betray brother and father his child and children raise up against parents.
When you watch all such things happen, Jesus said pray that you and your loved ones will not be yielded to all these temptations and lose their salvation, but instead be able to guard it and be ready for His coming.
When you read Mark chapter 13, it is startling to see every word in it matches with what is going on in our world today around us.
As you watch bible prophecies spoken by Jesus unfold before your very eyes now, pray fervently, time is near, be prepared to meet your LORD.
May this Holy Week of Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday remind you of this very prophecy of Jesus.
