Only Believe

Do not be afraid; only believe.

Mark 5:36

We all know this story about Jairus, the synagogue leader. His daughter became sick and was in death bed. Jairus hears about Jesus's healing powers and goes to Him and asks Him in faith to come and heal His daughter. Jesus sees the faith of Jairus and goes along with Him to his house. While they were nearing Jairus house, bad news welcomes him, that is his daughter is dead. At this very moment Jesus says these precious words to him, do not be afraid; only believe.
There is a lot of lesson we can learn from this event recorded in the Bible. First we can only have Jesus come with us to perform miracle by faith. Bible says without faith it is impossible to please God or convince Him to do a miracle. Jesus was convinced He can heal Jairus daughter because of his faith. Secondly faith can take time.  Unlike the miracle of centurions servant, Jesus didn't heal Jairus's daughter immediately, He didn't say to Jairus, go your daughter is well. He journeyed with Jairus for sometime, may be to test his faith, or may be there was another purpose on that journey like the women with the issue of blood being healed.
Lastly faith is always disturbed in a way that we might tend to lose it. When bad news came, Jairus would have thought that all is gone, his faith would have been shaken or fallen down. This is the moment Jesus said, do not lose heart, only believe even when what you hoped for is dead.
Today you may be like Jairus, have faith and seeing your faith Jesus would have started to come along with you to perform that miracle, you may be journeying along with Jesus for a while in faith not seeing the miracle happen yet, you may have lost faith because what you hoped for is dead. Whatever circumstances you are in, just believe. For God nothing is impossible. He can still bring the dead things back to life.
