Pray that you may not enter into temptation.

Temptation, what is it? In Greek the meaning of this word means to do evil, in other words to do things which are not as per God's ways and God's will, doing things which does not please God, doing things which is not as per God's word.
This is the same thing that Adam and Eve did in the beginning, they did evil by disobeying God's commandment and the result was they lost their blessing, they lost their intimate relationship with God, they lost their relationship with God and couldn't walk with Him anymore in the Garden of Eden.
Now does temptation comes by itself, do we do evil by our own will? The answer to that is No, we by ourselves do not do evil, but we are tempted by the devil, like Eve who was tempted by the serpent to eat the fruit of the tree.
This is the work of the devil, he is cunning and a deceiver, his main motive and goal is to tempt you and make you do things which are not the ways of God, he wants you to disobey God, he wants you not to understand God's will for your life.
Knowing all this, our LORD Jesus taught us how to avoid being tempted, how to prevent doing things which are not God ways, how not to disobey God.
The solution is to pray and ask God. In the Lord's Prayer this is one of the main prayer request. Don’t let us yield to temptation, but rescue us from the evil one.
