Prayers and Alms

Your prayers and your alms have come up for a memorial before God.

Acts 10:4

This life story of Cornelius, teaches us a great lesson. Cornelius though not a Jew, was a devout man worshiping the God of Israel and obeying God's commandment. It says in today's verse that Cornelius was not only a man of prayer but also one who helped the poor and needy and that he has been doing this for a while.
Cornelius had a life of prayer and helping the poor. The important truth to notice is, his consistent prayer life and helping other, did not go unnoticed.
It came up before the Almighty God in heaven as a memorial. These prayers and alms of Cornelius made God remember him and grant his desire.
Today we all like to receive answer to our prayers. Acts 10:4 gives us the clue for answered prayers.
Like Cornelius we are expected to pray a consistent and persistent prayer combined with a service of sharing God's love to others.
These things go before the LORD GOD as a sweet aroma and as a memorial before God.
Your prayer and alms stand before God and represent you and it pleases the LORD GOD Almighty, which enables Him to bless you and grant your desire.
This is the secret of answered prayer that we can learn from Cornelius story.
May your prayers and alms go up as a memorial before God and may He grant your hearts desires.
