Sword of the Spirit

And take. . . the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Ephesians 6:17

What is the purpose of the word of God? No doubt it has many purposes. Our verse for today is one of them. It says that the word of God is a weapon.
Metaphorically, it is a sword. This is because it is not for use against flesh and blood, "but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places" (Ephesians 6:12).
The sword is "the sword of the Spirit." This refers to the fact that the word of God was given by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. It also refers to the fact that the word of God is the most effective weapon against our spiritual enemies.
Like a sword in battle, the word of God must be used and must be in the hand to use it.
It is not just for ceremonial use; it is not just to make the one who bears it look good. It is to be used in battle, that is to be spoken out loud against the forces of darkness that attack you. If they attack you with serious illness, for example, you can say "by Jesus stripes I am already healed, If they attack you with a financial situation, we can say "my Lord shall supply all my needs according to His glory in Christ Jesus."
The sword of the Spirit is to be used in the battle. Do not keep the sword in a safe place, keep the sword in your hand and strike, speak loud in faith and declare God's Word and take victory. Take what belongs to you and do not allow the enemy the devil to steal from you. Use the Sword of the Spirit to take what belong to you.
