Waiting to act

So the LORD is waiting to show his mercy to you. He wants to rise and comfort you.

Isaiah 30:18

We don't usually think of God as being a God who waits. After all, He is the Sovereign Lord of the universe. He can do what He wants when He wants. He doesn't have to wait for anything. All He has to do is speak and words come into being.
Nevertheless, our verse for today tells us that God is waiting for us. He is waiting for us to come to him, and so that He can act on your behalf
God wants us to reach to a point where we stop trying to make it on our own apart from Him. God wants us to turn to Him and wait.
Why God wants to depend on Him and wait for Him to act? The answer is simple, when we wait on Him to act, we don't mess up on the things further, we leave it to the expert to handle. It is like you go to the restaurant and wait till the food is prepared. You don't go into the kitchen and start cooking food yourself. You are going to the restaurant to eat the best food cooked by the experts.
You order the food in the restaurant and then wait. Sometimes it takes even 30 minutes for the food to be prepared and served, all the while you wait, you wait in trust knowing that the food you ordered will be served for sure. Similarly, you carry your needs to the Lord in prayer and wait in trust, knowing that God is working on your behalf. You have to depend on God and Trust Him while you wait and surely the answer will be served to you, God acts when you wait, and He waits when you act.
Today who is waiting, and who is acting, is it you or God? Let God do it for you.
