New Covenant
For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
Mathew 26:28
From the beginning, blood had significance in the bible. We learn from the bible that the life of a person is in the blood and that blood speaks, just like how a normal living person speaks. When Cain killed Abel, we read in the bible that his blood spoke.
Throughout the Old Testament, blood became a means for forgiveness of sins. The Israelites made countless number of animal sacrifice for the remission or removal of their sins.
These were the blood sacrifice of innocent animals like the goat and lamb.
Why was blood sacrifice important, because the punishment of our sins are taken upon that animal which was sacrificed and that particular sin for that day was forgiven by God.
The animal sacrifice did not cover the sins of the future or the sins committed the very next day.
Now in order for a permanent removal of sins and permanent one time sacrifice was needed. A sacrifice of an innocent, blameless man.
God Himself took that place for you and me. Our Lord Jesus, came as a man, lived as a man, but lived a blameless, sinless life and gave himself as a sacrifice.
Hence, the blood He shed removed all of your sins and my sins forever.
This is the new covenant, that we are made righteous but the blood of THE SACRIFICIAL LAMB, our Lord Jesus Christ.
Sin has no grip on you anymore, and you are set free. In the New Covenant you inherit all the blessings of Abraham as per Galatians 3:14.
So rejoice today, God is on your side because of this new covenant, boldly approach Him, and He will strengthen you and help you and bless you.
