Time to Rule
For the sin of this one man, Adam, caused death to rule over many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and his gift of righteousness, for all who receive it will live in triumph over sin and death through this one man, Jesus Christ.
Romans 5:17
Paul wrote that death reigned on earth because of the sin of Adam. But God changed everything by sending a “free gift,” His Son, Jesus. Because of Jesus, we can be made righteous and receive eternal life (Romans 5:15-21).
But Jesus also came that we can “reign in life.” Right now! But to reign, there is something we need to do. We need to receive abundance of grace and this gift of righteousness. But how do we get these things?
The Greek word here translated “receive” means “to take or get a hold of.” Paul was saying that God offers us a free gift, but if we want to reign, we must respond. We must take hold of grace and the gift God has offered.
Unfortunately, many Christians do not “reign in life.” They allow fear, burdens, worry, and doubt to dominate their lives. They assume that they must always suffer under the weight of sin. They do not experience all the blessings God has made available because of His Son!
Today, the Bible promises that, because of Jesus, you can rule and reign in life. If you have entered into a covenant relationship with God, believe that His promises are true. Speak them, live them, and expect God to fulfill His promises for you. Don’t be robbed of the blessings He already has provided for you.
You do not need to suffer and worry. Death, sin, corruption, and the destructive work of the devil do not need to dominate your life. Because of Jesus, you can be “more than a conqueror” (Romans 8:37). You can have victory and overcome the world (1 John 5:4).
God offers this as a free gift. Take hold, and start ruling!
