Engine Oil
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the will of God—what is good and acceptable and perfect.
Romans 12:2
Have you ever wondered why do you change engine oil in your car periodically? Automobile engines have many moving parts. As these parts move and rub against each other, the force of friction creates heat. Oil lubricates the engine and absorbs heat, allowing the internal parts to work together effectively without overheating. Over time, engine oil breaks down and wears out. When it does, it becomes less effective at lubricating the engine and absorbing heat and becomes thick, which then leads to the damage of the engine itself.
In today’s world, we absorb the constant demand on our mind, the distractions, and the noise can break us down and put us in a spiritual fog unable to hear from our God. Life has a way of stacking on the pressure and pain, which causes our emotions to get out of whack. As we get tired and weighed down, our conscience can become numb, not really bothered by things that once convicted us. God’s voice is slowly muffled, and we begin to lose our passion for Him. The fire within dims, and we shift into autopilot, operating from a position of obligation or routine in our relationship with God, instead of one of affection and passion.
Fasting is like the engine oil change to your soul. It renews your mind, to receive the new things God wants to bring into your life, we have to periodically change the spiritual oil within us. When you fast you not only able to remove the old ways, but able to put on the new ways that God has prepared for you which enables you to hear from Him clearly, get new direction, new strength, fresh anointing and deliverance.
It’s time you change your soul oil. Consecrate a fast and bring your soul to your maker and He will make every crooked path in your life straight so you can run your life smoothly.
