Cattle on a Thousand Hills
Every beast of the forest is Mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills
Psalms 50:10
Sacrifice and Offering, many times we feel we are giving to God our time, talent, finances, etc. But in fact the truth is we are giving back to God what belongs to Him. In fact, when we serve in the Church, use our talents in singing or music, or make an offering or pay our tithes, we are only returning a favor, we are giving thanks to God who has blessed us with these gifts.
Israelites learned a hard lesson. They sacrificed to God, not from their heart out of gratitude, but with a motive expecting in return a blessing. The Israelites had continued to sacrifice to God, even though they weren’t really following Him, and that sacrifice began to seem like a tool for them to make God do what they wanted Him to do. The problem, of course, is that God doesn’t work that way. This triggered the wrath of God and He refused to accept their sacrifice and bless them.
Sometimes we get into the mode like the Israelites, we think that our offerings and other thing we give to Him will make Him do what we wanted Him to do. The truth is God does not need our offerings and gifts and talents so that He can bless us. He is such a good God who always does good for us no matter if we give or not give, but the bible teaches us that we should give our talents, gifts and resources to God with a thankful heart recognizing that all that we have been given by God and He owns everything. This alone will please Him and will enable Him, to trust you with more.
So Today when you are giving your gift and talents to God, do not give with an attitude of making God do what you want, but give with a grateful heart and thank Him for all His goodness, knowing that He is the ultimate giver.
