Prison
For He has broken the gates of bronze and cut the bars of Iron.
Psalms 107:16
Prison, it is a place of captivity, place of no freedom, place we don’t have control over anything, place of condemnation. We all many times end up in prison by our thoughts, actions, emotions, guilt. Our past thoughts keep us in prison lock down and disable us from living a free life that God intends for us. Our actions such as pride, bitterness, jealousy, lust also take us to this place and binds us from doing anything productive and fruitful to glorify God. Our emotions like anger, sadness, contempt, loneliness, depression, hurt become our lifelong sentence and keeps us behind bars for a very long time. Guilt is the severe punishment of all, which takes us to the most secluded part of prison.
Word of God teaches us that we don’t have to end up in prison. Jesus already broke the gates of bronze and cut the bars of iron and set us free and we are liberated already. All we have to do is just walk out of the prison and enjoy the God given freedom and live a life of testimony glorifying the name of Jesus everywhere we go. Jesus already bore upon himself all our past thoughts, emotions, actions and guilts and nailed it on the cross so that we can live an abundant life.
This is the truth that we have to realize and recognize everyday of our life. We no longer have to life in prison. When bad thoughts or past thoughts come to haunt us all we have to do is rebuke those thoughts in Jesus’ name and take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. Similarly in Jesus name we rebuke every type of emotion, action and guilt that tries to put us in prison. Jesus has given us the authority over all these, and we are called to exercise our authority in order to live a free life filled with the joy, peace and happiness that come from our Lord Jesus Christ.
