Counsel

Come and Listen to my counsel. I'll share my heart with you and make you wise.

Proverbs 1:23 (NLT)

George Washington’s father died when he was just eleven, and for a time the young Washington had his heart set on joining the British navy. However, his mother had some serious reservations about that path and eventually strongly urged him to reconsider. He listened to his mother, and rather than becoming the captain of a ship, he became Commander in Chief of the entire military forces of the United States of America.
Much of the course of our lives is determined by the input we get when making decisions and whether we heed wise counsel when we receive it.
King Solomon the wisest man to live on earth calls on us to come and listen to the counsel of the Lord as he did.
The most important part in seeking counsel is listening and following it with a whole heart.  In Jeremiah 29:13 the Lord said "you will find me if you truly seek me with all your heart". God's counsel is always right and causes you to walk on the right path. God's counsel delivers you from any problem or difficulty you face in your life. God's counsel never fails. Kind David was one such man who always sort the Lord's counsel, when he was running for life from King Saul or when he faced the fiercest enemy. In fact, he says that he constantly fixes his eyes upon the Lord for counsel. That is why he was delivered from many dangers in his life and was the most victorious king of Israel.
Today who's counsel do you seek? Follow the example of King David and his son, King Solomon. Seek the Lord always for His counsel with a whole heart and He will never fail you.  He will rescue you from every trap and make you wise.
