The Star has risen
I see him, but not now; I behold him, but not near. A Star shall come out of Jacob; a Scepter shall rise out of Israel.
Numbers 24:17
In Numbers 24:17, God spoke through Balaam a prophecy far beyond Israel’s immediate future. He saw “a Star” and “a Scepter.”
The Star represents the coming Messiah, the One whose light would pierce the world’s darkness. The Scepter represents His royal authority and eternal rule.
This prophecy finds its complete fulfillment in Jesus Christ, the Son of God — the true and eternal King.
Hundreds of years after Balaam spoke, God placed another star in the sky — the Star of Bethlehem (Matthew 2:1–2).
The wise men understood that this heavenly sign was pointing to the birth of the Messiah, the very Star that Balaam saw in the Spirit.
Jesus Himself declared:
“I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright Morning Star.” — Revelation 22:16
He is the true Star — the One who guides, who leads, who lights the way for all who seek Him.
Where His light shines, darkness cannot remain.
The scepter symbolizes authority, kingship, and victory.
Jesus did not come only to be born — He came to rule, to reign, and to destroy the works of the devil:
“The Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.” — 1 John 3:8
As we celebrate Christmas this month, remember the Star has risen and His scepter among us to destroy every evil work.
So call upon Him now and call upon Him in hope and you and your house shall be saved.
Reflection:
Jesus is the Star who guides your life—are your eyes fixed on His light? His rule brings victory—are you submitting every battle to His authority? His Kingdom is advancing—do you believe He is destroying every plan of the enemy concerning you?
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, Bright Morning Star, thank You for fulfilling every prophecy and shining Your light into the darkness of this world and into my heart. Thank You that Your rule breaks every power of the enemy. Let Your light guide me, Your authority protect me, and Your victory reign in every area of my life. Shine through me, Lord, and let Your Kingdom triumph over every work of the devil. Amen.
