Let go
But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good.
Genesis 50:20
Joseph’s words to his brothers reveal one of the most powerful truths in Scripture — that forgiveness releases God’s goodness. After years of betrayal, slavery, and prison, Joseph stood in a position of authority where he could have easily taken revenge. Yet instead of holding onto anger, he chose forgiveness. In that moment, Joseph acknowledged that what was meant to destroy him was used by God to fulfill His divine purpose.
Forgiveness is not about excusing someone’s wrongdoing; it’s about trusting God to bring justice and redemption in His time. When we forgive, we remove ourselves from the cycle of bitterness and make room for God’s favor to flow freely in our lives. Unforgiveness keeps us tied to the pain of the past, but forgiveness sets us free to walk in God’s peace and purpose.
Joseph’s forgiveness opened the door for reconciliation, restoration, and blessing—not just for himself but for his entire family. Likewise, when we release those who have hurt us, we invite God to turn the evil done to us into something good, shaping our pain into purpose and our wounds into wisdom.
Reflection:
Is there someone you need to forgive today? Ask the Lord to help you see them through His eyes and to trust that He can bring good even out of the pain they caused. Remember—your forgiveness is the key that unlocks God’s goodness and peace in your life.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the example of Joseph and the power of forgiveness. Help me to forgive those who have wronged me, just as You have forgiven me through Christ. Heal my heart from past hurts, and let Your goodness flow freely in my life. Turn every wound into a testimony of Your grace and every trial into a doorway for Your purpose. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
