Come to Bethel

I will make an altar there to God, who answered me in the day of my distress.

Gen 35:3

Jacob’s life was marked by many trials and sorrows. He had to flee from his home, fearing for his life because of his brother’s anger. In a foreign land, he was deceived and treated unfairly by his uncle Laban, laboring for years with little reward. He faced heartbreak in his own family—his daughter was wronged, and his son acted shamefully.
Yet through all the pain, Jacob did not turn bitter or lose faith. Instead, he remembered the God who met him at Bethel, the God who heard him in the day of his distress and never left his side. Jacob thanked God by erecting an altar.
Like Jacob, you too may have faced seasons of hardship, betrayal, or sorrow. Like Jacob your life may have many setbacks, but through it all, Lord Jesus Christ was with you. There were many Bethel moments in your life, when God answered you when you were in distress. So remember those Bethel moments in the past and thank the LORD for His goodness and faithfulness. Thanking God releases His favor, grace, and peace to you. Jacob's thankfulness released God's favor in his life and he was able to settle with peace in his life after that. Come to Bethel, remember what the LORD has done in your life and give thanks. This will calm all storms and settle you.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for being faithful through every season of my life. Even in my times of distress, You have been my refuge and my help. Today I return to my Bethel to thank You for every answered prayer and unseen mercy. Fill my heart with gratitude, peace, and renewed faith. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
